It All Started Not As A One Man Show ... But Two.
Founded in 1985 as Carolina Duplicating by Bryan and Tom Hall, the company quickly outgrew its name and was renamed Graphic Printing Services, Inc. in 1988. The company has grown from one long shift with two employees to a multiple-shift, 75-person operation. Sales have soared from $75,000 in 1988 to over $12.5 million during the past year.
In 1994, American Printer Magazine recognized Graphic Printing Services, Inc. as the fastest-growing printing company in America.
In 1998, the company completed a $5 million dollar equipment and facility expansion. During 2002, the company expanded its capabilities with the addition of a 40" 6-color plus aqueous coating Komori offset press. The $4.5 million dollar expansion also included a Creo computer-to-plate output device, Nexus prepress workflow system, a 40" automated MBO folder, and a 40" Bobst Autoplaten Diecutter featuring an automated stripping and blanking system. In addition, we created a 25,000 square foot computerized order fulfillment inventory management warehouse facility. For such a young company, we sure have quite a history.
OUR HISTORY
1985 - Founded as Carolina Duplicating
1988 - Renamed Graphic Printing Services, Inc. to better reflect the company's reputation for quality printing services.
1991 - Relocated to new location and facility in the Piedmont Centre in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. Progressed from three employees to 25 and from 3000 square feet to 10,000 square feet. A new state-of-the-art flexo division was added.
1993 - Completed 13,000 square foot facility expansion bringing total square footage to 23,000.
1994 - Recognized as the Fastest Growing Printing Company in America by American Printer Magazine.
1998 - Invested $5 million in a new equipment and facility expansion which brought total square footage to 55,000. Recognized as one of the 25 fastest growing companies in the Triad.
1999 - Expanded bindery and finishing department by purchasing $1 million of additional equipment including automated diecutting for packaging printing.
2001 - Recognized as the "Best of the Best" place to work in America by the Printing Industries of America. Re-engineered prepress department with the addition of computer-to-plate (CTP) technology.
2002 - $4.5 million equipment expansion including new 40" offset printing and diecutting capabilities. Created order fulfillment inventory management warehouse facility bringing total square footage to 70,000 square feet.
2003-2005 - Expanded fulfillment inventory management warehouse to 25,000 square feet bringing total facility square footage to 80,000 square feet. Added web-based order and customer inventory management system including kit packing capabilities. Ranked among the Triad's 50 Fastest Growing Businesses and recognized as a "Best of the Best" Workplace in America by the Printing Industries of America.
